About Us

We are a student-run nonprofit organization aiming to improve healthcare accessibility for underserved communities. A variety of experiences including coursework in medical humanities and personal experiences volunteering at free clinics and hospitals have sparked our passion to take concrete action to address social determinants of health.

Our Story

There is currently a large gap in the healthcare system for underserved communities. Many uninsured patients and patients of low socioeconomic status find themselves unable to find basic adequate healthcare, forcing them to only see a physician after their chronic healthcare issues have worsened significantly. This has only been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

While there is undoubtedly a multitude of information available regarding discounted and free healthcare resources for underserved communities, it can be notoriously difficult to find. Free clinics also face a burden of not only providing extremely valuable services to patients, but also simultaneously striving to increase their reach and advertise their services to patients. Thus, Link Nonprofit was founded as a grassroots organization aiming to take the burden of finding accessible primary care off of both clinics and patients. We accomplish this by advocating for the importance of preventative healthcare and by connecting patients to free and discounted primary healthcare services near them.

Meet the Team

Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Ananya Srivastava

Ananya is a senior at Rice University majoring in Biosciences and Psychology and minoring in business. Her passion for addressing social determinants of health and improving access to healthcare sparked her desire to establish an organization to connect members of underserved communities with the healthcare they deserve. In her free time, Ananya enjoys acting, dancing, and hiking.

Chief Operating Officer, P/CHW

Sriya Kakarla

Sriya is a junior at Rice University majoring in Health Sciences and Spanish and minoring in Medical Humanities. Fueled by her passion to expand access to preventative healthcare and her experience as a community healthcare worker, she works to expand partnerships with the Houston community and helps ensure the cultural competence and accessibility of Link Nonprofit's work. In her free time, Sriya enjoys reading and fencing.

Medical Student Advisor

Sarah Snyder

Sarah Snyder is a proud Rice Owl with her undergraduate degree from Rice University in Kinesiology and a double major in theater. She has her clinical doctorate in physical therapy from Texas Woman’s University—Houston and worked as an acute care physical therapist for six years with Harris Health, frequently performing wound care, post-surgical and ICU mobility evaluations, and neonatal developmental evaluations. Sarah is very passionate about advocacy and education, frequently volunteering her time to provide mentorship to students. Having been born in Costa Rica, she enjoys practicing her Spanish, traveling, and learning about various cultures and languages. Her two rescue dogs are her pride and joy, often joining her on road trips to hike mountains and explore the American wilderness. She is currently an MS3 at the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine.

Physician Advisor

Dr. Bhavna Lall, MD, MPH, MPA

Dr. Lall is a clinical assistant professor of adult medicine in the Department of Clinical Sciences at the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine. She has previously served as a medical officer with the Peace Corps at its headquarters in Washington, D.C. She has also provided clinical service in Thailand, Uganda, Austria, and the U.K. and worked on public health projects and initiatives in India, the Caribbean region, Zimbabwe and Botswana. Lall has a strong interest in bridging gaps between public health and medicine, access to care issues, low-cost diagnostics and addressing global public health challenges and healthcare disparities.

Our Volunteers

Our college and high school volunteers are an extremely valuable part of our nonprofit. They each work on different teams, acquiring skills and knowledge in a particular sphere of the nonprofit.
